Robert Einterz, MD
is a Professor of Clinical Medicine, Associate Dean for International Affairs at Indiana University School of Medicine, and Executive Director of the Indiana University-Moi University, Kenya partnership. Dr. Einterz is the founding director of the American-sub-Saharan African Network for Training and Education (ASANTE) consortium through which Indiana University, Duke University, and multiple other medical schools collaborate with Moi University School of Medicine to enhance the academic missions of all partners.
Dr. Einterz has more than 20 years experience in global health. He directed a comprehensive primary health care program in rural Haiti in 1986-87 and he has directed the Indiana-Moi partnership since its inception in 1989. He was Indiana University’s first team leader in Kenya from 1990-91 where he served as the acting coordinator of Moi University’s Department of Medicine. He has served short-term in a number of other sites around the world including Peru, Cameroon, and Nigeria. Dr. Einterz is a co-founder of the Academic Model for the Prevention and Treatment of HIV/AIDS (AMPATH), the largest HIV treatment and control program in Kenya.
A practicing general internist, Dr. Einterz directed a large, multi-specialty primary care community health center on the near west side of Indianapolis. He continues to serve as an attending physician at Wishard Memorial Hospital on the campus of Indiana University Medical Center.
