Summary

Dr. Johanna Halfon completed the Duke Global Health Obstetrics & Gynecology Fellowship Program in 2016. Dr. Halfon completed Obstetrics & Gynecology Residency at New York Presbyterian Hospital-Columbia, and her MD at Yale. During medical school, she was awarded a Doris Duke International Fellowship to work in Accra, Ghana conducting research on the effect of placental malaria parasitemia on peripheral and placental HIV-1 RNA, concentration in HIV-positive pregnant women. As a Duke Global Health Fellow, Jana’s research focused on post-cesarean section peritonitis in Rwanda: factors associated with severe morbidity and mortality at transfer from district hospitals and during management at the referral hospital. She is currently as Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Columbia University Medical Center in New York.
