Summary

Neelima Navuluri completed the Duke Global Health Pulmonary and Critical Care Fellowship in 2020. She is currently an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Duke Division of Pulmonary, Allergy and Critical Care and a Medical Instructor of Global Health. Her interest in global health started while as an undergraduate at Duke via projects in Belize, Ireland and Nepal. It was during this time she developed an interest in refugee health which continued through medical school at the University of Texas HSC in San Antonio. There, she helped establish the San Antonio Refugee Health Clinic and studied the barriers resettled refugees face when accessing healthcare. She also spent time in India and Peru, learning more about global mental health and tropical medicine. She completed her internal medicine training at Columbia University in 2017, with a capstone clinical experience at Mulago Hospital in Kampala, Uganda. Her time there helped inform her current interest in global critical care and the management of chronic hypoxemia. Her research during the Global Health Pathway focused on understanding the epidemiology of chronic hypoxemia at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret, Kenya and exploring options to improve capacity for long term oxygen therapy in resource-constrained settings.
